Correct Method to extend CT Clamp cable for EV Charger (Also should it be earthed)
I'll start with the problem.
I've installed two Hive Mini Pro 3 EV chargers, and both have had the same fault, which I think I've now isolated to the CT Cable (Not the clamp or its direction).
Essentially if I connect the CT Cable to the EV Charger and enable smart charging, the EV Charger will randomly report an earth fault. If I disconnect the CT Cable and disable smart charging, the EV Charger works perfectly fine.
I have extended the CT Cable provided with the clamp, in the same way at both installations using a Doncaster EV Ultra Cable which contains a shielded CAT 5e cable. Then connected one twisted pair to the CT Clamp Cable using Wago's, the other end of the twisted pair to the EV Charger.
The install instructions for the Hive does suggest that if a shielded data cable is used the sheath needs to be earthed, but I can't work out how.
Has anyone else have experience of the Hive Mini Pro 3 chargers, and if so have you come across a similar problem. How did you extend the CT Clamp cable if you needed to ?
